So, a woman and her husband are celebrating their 10 year anniversary. They both decide not to spend a lot of money on a gift for each other. The woman has the idea to buy her husband a cheap pet. She rolls into the pet store looks around and doesn’t find anything that matches her price range. She asks the manager if he has any pets for a good price. “Well I have these Bullfrogs here for $20 each and apparently they give BJ’s. I don’t know from personal experience but I’ve sold about forty of them and nobody has returned any.” The woman thinks it’s a funny idea, so she buys it and gives it to her husband. She tells him what she was told; they both have a good laugh and go to bed. At about three in the morning she wakes up to a ruckus in the kitchen. She rolls down stairs to find her husband and the Bullfrog reading cookbooks. “What’s going on here?” she asks. Her husband looks up at her and says, “If I can teach this bullfrog how to cook its over!”

The off season is always about doing different things than racing. Can´t forget as I spent 10 day just before Christmas with my friend Rob Trnka who is a photographer in Morroco. We flew to Casablanca, rented a car and drove without any map to the mountains. We visited lot of nice places, went riding bikes in small mountain villages while learning about their culture. It was really interesting to see how people live there. We had many enjoyable experiences. Morocco is so beautiful country…I wish to visit there again sometime…

Before Christmas I also made my final decision about 2008 and for this season I did a big move. After 5 years with Kona I changed teams and in 2008 I will be riding for a new Suzuki-RB team. I´m really looking forward to ride a bike from the Czech company RB. Also had a chance to start cooperation with few other sponsors like Fox suspension, Hope, and Easton. I´m super happy about this.

Right now it is training time. Mostly I´m spending time in the gym or on the trainer - not so funny activities. Luckily the weather is getting little bit better in the Czech Republic and the last few days it was possible to go out riding and have some fun on fourcross, downhill, dirt jump and BMX tracks. The first big race is in second half of April so there is still some time to get ready for season. From then on in there will be big races almost every weekend….

Flying over a frozen desert into Cleveland, Ohio I realized why Ray Home built the indoor mountain bike park. Ohio has some inhospitable weather to contend with. Outside, the flight attendant informs me, the temp is 20 degrees. Boy! am I glad I brought my toasty winter jacket.

I wheeled my Dakine bike bag through the baggage claim and eagerly awaited my Holiday Inn shuttle where I would be for the staying for the Women’s weekend at Rays. I normally fly south of the hemisphere to Australia or South Africa to seek out the most optimal training conditions during the winter. But here, I found myself traveling to Ohio of all places to ride an indoor mtb park.

This was my first trip to Rays and I was as excited as a kid in a candy store the next day when I first laid eyes on the wooden park. Friday, I spent coaching fellow female shredders how to successfully drop the wooden ramps to tranny and learning the basics of a bunny hop. About 40 women of all ages showed up for the Women Only day at Rays. The rest of the weekend was spent implementing the skills that were taught on Friday. I spotted some of the women I was helping conquering their fears and it was so cool to see a huge smile from all the women pretty much all the time.

Rays has it all, there’s a XC course, foam pit, park set up with rails and half pipes, beginner jumps, expert jumps and north shore type obstacles to play on and if that isn’t enough you can session the huge Red Bull wall ride and see what tricks you could impress the “loungers” on the Oakley box.

I would recommend to anyone interested in bikes to head over to Rays indoor mtb park. There is something for everyone to ride on and improve their skills with. My last day at the park I learned how to flip into the foam pit, well… on my feet that is. I am now one step closer to doing a flip on a bike and I mastered the one handed maneuvers by Sunday.

I skipped winter this year again, well, the snowy Canadian winter anyways….but instead of Australia, I’ve been down in SoCal with Chris playing in the dirt in the desert sun. We built a pumptrack, an XC trail and are racing the Fontana Winter Series which I like to call the Vomit Series because of the massive sprint at the end. I made a few sponsor changes for 2008…..I will be riding Intense frames, Maxxis tires, running THE helmets and rocking Smith Optics. I’m looking forward to the start of the season, I’ve got some goals set and want to make them happen. Should be a fun year.
