On a grey and cool mid-January day in Vancouver, Wade poured over a fat pile entries of the first Dear Wade contest and chose his top 10. As he promised, he reached into his helmet and pulled out the winner…Pedro Brajal from Portugal. “A big thanks to all who entered,” said Wade with his signature big smile and unshaven mug, “I hope that Pedro is pumped to ride big bikes in Costa Rica because I am!” Pedro walks away with 9 days of riding with Wade on Big Mountain Bike Adventures’ Pura Vida DH trip, a Dakine Apex pack, a Bell full-face helmet, Oakley shades, the use of a 2009 Rocky Mountain Flatline DH rig and a full set-up from Sombrio clothing.Congratulations Pedro! The 9 runner-up entries get a Sombrio jersey and Big Mountain t-shirt. Thanks to all who entered and we’ll see you next year! Watch Wade choose the winner here:

Please feel free to correct my German.
Usually in the wintertime, a bunch of pro riders come to Aptos because the conditions are perfect for riding. Most of the riders live where it is either snowing or raining really hard right now, but Aptos has such a good scene at this time of year that everyone basically moves there for the winter.
This past week in Aptos, we rode with the likes of Adam Hauck, Brandon Semenauk, Aaron Chase, Darren Bearcloth, Paul Basagoitia, and a bunch of other Canadian shredders. The usual Aptos crew of Alex Reveles, Ryan Howard, myself, and a bunch of other locs were in full force. We took all the visitors on a tour de Santa Cruz and showed them some secret spots that only a few know about. The session lasted for four days straight because there are so many sick dirt jump spots right now. Everyone took full advantage of the conditions and rode to the best of their abilities, throwing insane tricks and pulling out new lines that no one has even thought about.
After an exhausting four days, everyone left town, so I decided to drive to LA and take a little vacation. I think I’m going to rent a beach cruiser with one of my good friends and take in the sun. Until next time!
Greg
