Rob J’s Launch Party Goes ” Off The Wall”

Rob had a sick idea of doing a collaboration bike with Vans, let him tell you how it went down!

“I had the Idea to create a Dirt Bike for my long time shoe sponsor VANS. I asked Canyon if they would be interested in a cooperation with Vans and they said: “Yes, sure – make it happen.”  So I started to put the things together step by step. I brought the Streetart Designers Christian “C100″ Hundertmark and Clemens “The Purple Haze” Baldermann into this Project to create the graphics for the bike.

The two Streetartists are worldfamous for their artwork they do for big brands like: Oakley, Nokia, Kia, Völkl Snowboards, Prada, Levis…. the list is long.

They worked out a design with an amazing finish in the decaljob. I choose the parts for the 66 limited bikes. 66 – because Vans since 1966.

In the end the bike comes with a special designed Marzocchi DJ1 fork, Spank TweetTweet rims, stem, bar and seat; Acros Headset and seatpost; Atomlab GI cranks, Formula hubs and Brakes; Schwalbe tires and ODI grips. The best thing is that Vans made some limited Shoes wtih an special designed Insole, some T-shirts and a shoebag which comes with every bike.

My Signature Bike will be available end of May for 999,-Euros only on the www.canyon.com website.

Last Thrursday i had the Launch Party here in Munich to show off the first final frame and full bike. 200 People came to the Cafe King to see the bike, meet the people behind it and have some free drinks with journalists and szene people. The evening was supercool and I am very happy that everything went so good so far with this project which kept me away from riding for a few months…

The project brings a lot of coverage in different Streetart-, Bike-, Designmagazines as well as in Books and on Websites. The Bike will be an VANS collectors Item too. Some Ads are running in the next Bike Magazines as well.”
