VOTE EARTH MARCH 28th

THIS IS THE WORLD’S FIRST GLOBAL ELECTION, BETWEEN EARTH AND GLOBAL WARMING.Download this poster

On March 28 you can VOTE EARTH by switching off your lights for one hour. Or you can vote global warming by leaving your lights on.

The results of the election are being presented at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. We want one billion votes for Earth, to tell world leaders that we have to take action against global warming. This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations. For more info please visit: www.voteearth2009.org

The Odd Couple

Just got back from another exciting trip to Rays Mountain Bike Park in Cleveland, Ohio. Rays is an indoor bike park with tons of terrain to ride ranging from beginner to advanced and Red Bull holds a unique contest there each year. I always enjoy riding there because there are so many different lines and jumps that you can ride all day and not hit the same thing- ever!

This year the format was a little different, they paired a mountain biker with a BMX rider to make a video. The best section wins! The crowd decided the winner by cheering into a sound meter. I was paired up with local BMX rider Justin Simpson who absolutely killed it! He did so many crazy lines that I couldn’t let him down. I pulled off a few tricks that I’ve wanted to do for awhile including a triple truck driver, and an opposite spin 360.

The time came to watch all the video parts and I was really impressed by them all. Once they played them all, the crowd cheered their favorite section on, and I turned out to be me and Justin!!! We won! I was so stoked to take home a sweet trophy as well as our cash prize paid in all 1 dollar bills!

We partied hard until the bar closed, and it was such a good time. I realized I had a flight really early in the morning so I called it a night, and got an hour or 2 of sleep. It was definitely a good start to my year, and I think this year will be an amazing one!

Until next time this is Greg Watts saying to keep on shredding!
